News & Star

Sadly as of 4th September 2017 we had to close our doors due to Cumbria County Council taking back possession of our building which they leased to us, stating that they had urgent need of it.  This effectively rendered us homeless, so at present the charity is in stasis until other viable property can be sought, this is heartbreaking given then the fact both myself and Kerryanne are all too well aware that our County will flood again and our services will be needed.

The above link is from The News & Star who kindly reported on our plight.

On the 14th of May at The Sun Inn, Pooley Bridge, CA10 2NN. Daz’s Rock 4 Charity/Save Cert (UK) An afternoon raising funds for CERT UK at The Sun Inn, Pooley Bridge  May 14, 2017:  Saw a fantastic fundraising afternoon held at the Sun Inn, Pooley Bridge, with live music from professional musician and part-time charity fundraiser Darren Sims, who offered CERT UK a lifeline to help raise vital funds to keep the doors of this vital charity from closing permanently. Darren heard about the charity’s plight via social media, which was made even harder when they tried a last-ditch attempt to raise funds quickly using Virgin MoneyGiving website which crashed on the weekend of The London Marathon. Darren, felt he needed to help and contacted our Client Liaison Sue Dust, he offered to help by donating his services for free, which was warmly received by Sue and the charity. He arranged for the posters to be printed and delivered and so began the planning; There was live music not just from Darren, there was local talent for the event Harry King aged 14 years, who wowed the crowd with multiple renditions of popular tunes and was joined at one point by his Dad where they performed a duet. There was also throughout the afternoon: Raffle with many great prizes £1 Lucky Dip for children Charity Auction Cake Stall with home-made produce, cakes, scones, bread and preserves Everyone joined in with the spirit of the day with a […]
